Michelle at Actisense, an Engineering and Manufacturing company based in Poole took part in the Business Growth Dorset funded Growth Group with Evolve Advisory. 

"I attended a fantastic two-day Strategy & Planning for Growth Workshop, hosted by Evolve and funded by Dorset LEP, on 20 January and 10 February 2025. With my recent increase in business responsibilities, I was eager to not only focus on personal development but also to connect with other business owners and leaders. I wanted to learn from their experiences and explore ways to improve and strengthen my own business. 

Although it can be challenging to step away from the day-to-day running of the business, it’s vital to make space for strategic thinking. Taking time out to work on the business, rather than just in it, allowed me to pause, reflect and reassess where we’re heading. The workshop created that opportunity and delivered real value. 

Across the two days, we covered a range of practical and thought-provoking topics, including: 

  • Understanding Leadership & Influence – how to inspire and lead others to create positive change. 

  • Employee Engagement – recognising that a motivated and committed team is essential to long-term success. 

  • Strategies for Growth – connecting business ambition to clear, actionable goals. 

I found the Growth Group Workshop extremely helpful and insightful. Hearing directly from peers, sharing challenges, and learning how others are tackling similar issues sparked new thinking. The mix of structured content and open discussion gave me a renewed sense of focus and clarity. I came away with both practical ideas and a wider perspective—tools that will undoubtedly help shape the next stage of my business journey."
