Photo Experience is a growing Dorset-based business providing bespoke photography experiences for visitor attractions and events across the UK and Ireland.  It’s currently expanding its operations and investing in future growth opportunities. As the business continues to take on larger projects and increase capacity, ensuring the right funding strategy is in place has become an important focus for the next stage of development.

The Challenge

As the business experienced significant growth, the founders wanted to better understand the funding options available to support expansion and identify the most suitable approach for future investment.

While day-to-day cash flow remained healthy, funding larger projects and investing in new equipment created additional pressure on resources. The business wanted greater clarity around the financial routes available and reassurance that future decisions would support sustainable growth.

Alongside exploring funding opportunities, there was also a desire to learn from experienced professionals and meet other business owners facing similar growth challenges.

The Support

The business took part in the Funding Growth Workshop, delivered by Evolve as part of the Scale Up Finance programme, funded by Business Growth Dorset.

The workshop explored a range of funding options available to growing businesses, helping participants understand the advantages, considerations and suitability of different approaches, depending on their business stage and ambitions.

A key benefit of the programme was the opportunity to hear directly from experienced professionals – funders, banks, advisors and other experts, providing insights and advice to help build confidence around future funding decisions.

The session also provided an opportunity for discussion and peer-supported learning, enabling participants to share their experiences challenges.

The Impact

Attending the workshop helped Adam to develop a clearer vision for future growth funding and provided greater confidence around the options available to support Photo Experience’s expansion plans.

While the business is still working through its next phase of growth, the programme has helped create a clearer picture around future investment, particularly in relation to equipment purchases and larger-scale projects.

The experience also reinforced the value of connecting with other business owners, helping participants recognise that many of the challenges associated with growth and securing investment are shared across different sectors and industries.
